When the mercury rises in Hong Kong, it’s time to hit one of the city’s many hk pools. Most are affordable for the whole family, and some even have water slides to keep the kids entertained!
Whether you’re looking for a place to impress out-of-town guests, a pool day with the kids or some self-indulgent relaxation, there’s sure to be a pool that tickles your fancy. Here are ten of the best public swimming pools in Hong Kong:
Kowloon Park Swimming Pool Complex
The Kowloon Park Swimming Pool complex is located at Kowloon Park in Yat Tsui District and was opened in 1989. The pool was designed by British architects Derek Walker and Simon Kwan, and is considered the first public pool in Asia to use a translucent insulated tensile membrane (Tensotherm), with an R-value of 4.90 and an U-value of 1.16.
Its large main pool looks out to Tolo Harbour, while the children’s pool is adorned with water installations like mushroom and tree-shaped fountains. Plus, there are four waterslides to choose from – the highest two are said to be among the fastest in town. This pool also has a snack bar and family changing rooms.
YMCA Bridges Street Centre Swimming Pool
The YMCA Bridges Street Centre Swimming pool, built in 1918, is one of the oldest indoor pools in Hong Kong. Located inside a historic complex, it’s fairly affordable compared to other public swimming pools in the area, and it also offers swimming lessons for kids!
Located in the heart of the city, this gleaming complex is the only heated pool in the central business district. The pool is surrounded by lush greenery and has two pools, two diving boards, and three slides for all ages. There’s also a snack bar and lounge chairs.
Tai Wan Shan Swimming Pool
This gorgeous pool is a great option for families, as it has a leisure pool with a variety of water slides for different age groups. The pool is also a favourite for lap swimmers, and its location overlooking Victoria Harbour makes it a must-visit for anyone visiting Hong Kong.
This pool is a hidden gem that’s perfect for impressing out-of-town guests. Located on the 118th floor of the International Commerce Center, this pool is an experience all its own. With floor to ceiling windows, mirrored ceilings and LED walls that showcase the illusion of coral reefs, a swim here is truly awe-inspiring. Plus, you can even order a poolside cocktail to complete the experience!
